Interesting and pretty Art Nouveau cover design
$22.99
Even though this cover design looks like it was done by Decorative Designers (est. 1895) it was not. The designer is unknown to me, but his or her initials (likely "FD") appear near the lower-right of the design. It is very unusual, certainly, for 1900 (or any period). The stamped gilt and black design, on red cloth-covered boards, features several butterflies around three lit candles, and with a wreath of ivy tied with ribbon surrounding them. The book itself is "Domestic Dramas" (Drames de Famille) by Paul Bourget. This translation from the French was done by William Marchant. The book was published by Charles Scribner's Sons of New York. It was printed by the Norwood Press/J. S. Cushing & Company of Norwood, Massachusetts. The author, as you may know, was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature five times. He was admitted to the Académie Française in 1894.

It’s far better than those similar products, while the price is still acceptable.
